Chauvin Judged By 12

A jury of 12 citizens that ex-police officer Derek Chauvin swore to protect and serve have found him guilty on all 3 counts against him.

His sentence will be determined over the next 8 weeks. Chauvin could spend the rest of his life alongside people he’s policed.

Unless lightening strikes him dead, Chauvin will appeal.

The most likely reasons for his appeal are:

  • Ineffective council — essentially saying that his defense team didn’t protect him correctly

  • Media / politician tainted the jury — meaning that the jury couldn’t think straight because of world events

90% of appeals are denied. There’s no telling what will happen.

I’m personally allowing myself to only be cautiously optimistic. I’m not celebrating the verdict yet. If anything, I’m looking towards the (potential) upcoming trials this summer for the three other cops associated with Floyd’s murder.

Chauvin’s conviction won’t change policing the way their convictions would.
