Late last night, a collaborator sent me the latest drafts of several videos. We’ve followed a post-production process that looked something like this:

• The director of photography sent him everything he recorded,

• The editor received the files and looked through all the useable footage (we call this culling), leaving the unusable footage behind,

• Then he went through to delete the interview questions, leaving only the responses (this, we call a stringout),

• Then he picked the most useable responses (which we call selects), which he uploaded for me to review.

After all that culling and selecting, there’s about an hour of content to review. The goal is to create about 15 minutes of final video.

This project gets smaller and smaller as it goes along.
